Travel Advisory: New Ramps Opening in Quonset as Part of the Missing Move

On Friday morning, September 25, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is scheduled to open three new ramps to provide better connectivity from Route 403 to the Quonset Business Park and the Route 1 (Post Road) business district. The ramps are part of RIDOT's "Missing Move" Project.

These new ramps, which were not built when Route 403 was originally constructed over 20 years ago, link:

• West Davisville Road to Route 403 East toward Route 1 and the main Quonset Point Business Park areas

• Route 403 West, coming from Route 1 toward Route 4, exiting onto West Davisville Road

• Route 1 (Post Road) to Route 403 West toward Route 4

Along with building these new ramps, RIDOT added a roundabout at the West Davisville Road/ Compass Circle intersection and made numerous safety improvements which include new signage, striping and traffic signals. These new elements will shorten travel times, make it easier for trucks and cars to get to and from destinations in the Business Park, and help remove Business Park traffic from local roads.

Further north, RIDOT also is building additional ramps to provide direct highway connections between I-95 North and Route 4 South, and Route 4 North and I-95 South. This $144 million 'Missing Move' project is scheduled for completion in fall 2027.

All construction projects are subject to changes in schedule and scope depending on needs, circumstances, findings, and weather.
